(Approval Number LA301075) Download Data Sheet THIS ONLY APPLIES TO THE NEW 8.33kHz VERSION
8.33kHz Funding ApplicationOn 1 January 2018 the law changes and all aircraft operating in airspace that requires the carriage of a radio must have 8.33 kHz voice compatible equipment fitted and operational.> To make a claim please click here.
On the outside the new models of the IC-A6 and IC-A24 are the same. On the inside they have been redesigned to allow 8.33kHz compatibility as well as to improve overall performance. An extra enhancement is the transmit power for the European version has been increased from 3.6W PEP to 5.0w PEP.
The IC-A24 transceiver continues the tradition by providing even more of the most pilot-requested features including; VOR navigation function, Compact, stylish design, New channel recall function, Dedicated 121.5MHz Emergency key (Programmed with 121.5MHz homing frequency), Water resistant (equivalent to IPX4, Simultaneous operation and charging from an external power source, 200 alphanumeric memory channels with memory banks, Side Tone function, ANL function, Battery packs and cases are compatible with Icom's range of commercial radios.
The Sports Pack contains:BP-208N AA Battery Case, CP-20 Cigarette Lighter Cable with DC-DC converter, MB-103 Belt clip, FA-B02AR antenna, handstrap and manual.
Compact, stylish body
The IC-A24/A6 design incorporates the size and durability of the IC-A3/A22 with improved usability. The IC-A6/A24 includes a large LCD, large speaker and easy-to-use panel layout. The side of the radio has a non-slip slit to prevent accidental dropping.
Large alphanumeric LCD
An easy to read a 6 character 14 segment alphanumeric LCD displays a variety of information clearly. Both the display and keypad are backlit, which is a very useful feature for nighttime flying.
Channel recall function
The channel recall function automatically memorises the last 10 used channels. You can easily recall those channels by pushing the recall buttons on the front panel. This makes it very convenient for switching between several channels at a time, such as NAV channels and COM channels.
Simultaneous operation from external power source
The IC-A24/A6 has an external DC power jack that allows operation with the optional CP-20 cigarette lighter cable with DC-DC converter.
Dedicated 121.5MHz emergency key
A dedicated red emergency key programmed with a 121.5MHz homing frequency is equipped to give you extra confidence in the event of an emergency.
VOR navigation function
The IC-A24 has VOR navigation functions. The DVOR mode shows the radial to (or from) a VOR station and the CDI mode shows the course deviation to (or from) a VOR station. You can also input your intended radial to (or from) a VOR station and show the course deviation on the display.
Large 200 memory channel capacity with memory banks
A total of 200 memory channels can be named with a 6 character channel name. By grouping these channels into 10 memory banks, quick and easy operation is possible. The optional PC cloning software, CS-A24 allows you quick and easy memory management from your PC.
Water resistant, equivalent to IPX4
The water resistant construction provides reliable operation in wet conditions.
Side Tone function
The side tone function allows you to hear your own voice via a headset. By monitoring your own voice, this function eliminates unnecessary shouting on a noisy runway. Side tone level is adjustable from the transceiver.
Variety of scanning functions
The COM band scan checks all of the busy COM band channels, and the memory scan checks the tagged memory channels
