The Aware 5 GPS airspace warning system developed by Airbox in association with NATS is a GPS moving map device created with pilot safety in mind. Its roots stem from a desire to help pilot avoid controlled airspace.
Airspace infringements are an increasing problem worldwide, they are normally the result of either a loss of situational awareness or from a lack of knowledge about changes to airspace restrictions. The Aware 5 aims to solve both these problems by offering an affordable moving map with a definitive free airspace warning database updated in accordance with the AIRAC cycle. The Aware 5 is very simple to use and needs just a single page of instructions.
Alerts include:
- Controlled Airspace (Control Zones, Control Areas and Airways)
- Aerodrome Traffic Zones
- Danger Areas and Prohibited Areas
- Restricted Airspace (temporary, such as air shows etc.)
- Transponder Mandatory Zones
- MATZ, ATZ, GVS, PSL, HIRTA
Note: all airspace warning updates are provided free of charge and are available every month in accordance with the AIRAC cycle.
